Bookshop Day 2024 Mural
A mural designed and hand painted for Books Are My Bag (through JACKARTS/BUILDHOLLYWOOD) to celebrate Bookshop Day 2024.

As the design wraps fully around the drum, I thought it would be effective to create the illusion that one is looking into a bookshop contained within it.
Hopefully there are lots of fun elements and details for passers by to stop and look at, as well as little stories that make their way around the drum through each window.
Each window showcases a popular genre of book:
Green - Crime/Thriller
Yellow - Fantasy/Adventure
Blue - Children’s
Red - Romance
The events and scenarios in each window represent each of these genres. There are also elements that run through every window, little stories that can be seen in the background.
For example, the man chasing the dog with the book on its back, or the woman with the massive stack of books (green window) that then gets knocked down (yellow window), creating a meet-cute with a woman who helps her pick them back up (red window). There are also many references to popular books and book covers for people to spot!
